Purpose: The Study Group Program provides a safe and studious environment for students who are unable to afford an after-school study program. With the assistance of experienced volunteer instructors, students receive support to reach their academic goals and prepare for the SAT. The Youth Program Associate and volunteer instructors lead structured lessons with the aid of accredited SAT prep resources and an emphasis on Math and English. Study Group’s small classroom setting allows for instructors to address the individual needs of each student. In addition to SAT preparation and homework assistance, the Youth Program Associate and volunteer instructors help to work as college advisers, providing counseling and assistance with college applications, internship and scholarship opportunities and help coordinating college tours. The end goal for Study Group is to help students graduate from high school, perform well on the SAT and be accepted into a college of their choice.
