Unni-Hyung Mentoring Program

This is a community-based, one-to-one mentoring program for Korean American youths between the ages of 14-18.  We pair youths (“Mentees”) with young professionals (“Mentors”) to foster healthy relationships by doing activities together under the Program Coordinator’s guidance. Mentors provide friendship and support throughout the mentoring period while at the same time serve as a role model and friend.  Mentees may face issues related to acculturation, domestic violence, or lack of a positive adult-figure. By encouraging them through this enriching relationship, they will be able to develop social and leadership skills as well as their future career interests.

1. During a one year-long commitment, mentoring pairs meet for a minimum of four hours.
2. Mentor must attend a in-house interview, training session and get finger printed prior to being paired.
3. Mentees must attend an interview and orientation session prior to being paired.
4. Mentoring pairs must attend at least 3 out of the 6 group events.

5. Mentoring pairs must have constant communication throughout the week or month with Youth Program Coordinator.

To apply to be a Mentor or Mentee, please download the Mentor Application or Mentee Application and send it to mentoring@kafsc.org.
