We are excited to offer Project G.O.A.L once again to the students of the Young Women’s Leadership School of Queens in the 2018-2019 school year. We hope to provide the young girls with a space that encourages them to redefine cultural ideas of gender, sexuality, and relationships through photography and media arts.
What is Project G.O.A.L?
Our Project G.O.A.L (Girls Own Artistic Leadership) offers an innovative approach that empowers young girls (ages 14-18) to utilize media arts to examine cultural ideas about gender, sexuality and relationships and to re-frame their sense of worth, develop self-identity, and enhance leadership and advocacy skills. During the sessions, members engage in discussions about gender violence, sexuality, healthy relationships or other related topics and learn to use photography to express their own definitions of these terms.
The Project G.O.A.L runs once a week as an after-school activity at our partner school, the Young Women’s Leadership School of Queens (TYWLSQ), on Wednesdays from 2:30 – 5:00 pm. The program is offered at TYWLSQ for 8 weeks in the fall and spring semester.
